Alessandro Antonicelli, an Italian fitness influencer, died on Dec. 4 after a two-year cancer journey. He was 26.
“Today the world is a bit emptier: Ale flew away, free from pain, finding the peace he deserved,” shared an Instagram post announcing the content creator’s death on Dec. 6. “We know how much you’ve loved and supported him, but now we ask you to protect this painful time his family, girlfriend and friends are going through.”
Antonicelli — who maintained a following of over 193,000 on Instagram — initially grew on the platform for his workout content, but over the last two years, he opened up about his cancer diagnosis and used his reach to help raise money for cancer research.

The content creator first revealed on Aug. 10, 2023, that he had been diagnosed with chondroblastic osteosarcoma, a malignant bone tumor, after seeing a doctor for chronic fatigue.
“I am sure that the sports mentality and that of studying that I have gained over the years will be of great help to face this battle,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I don’t know what’s waiting for me, but I know I’m strong.”
He started receiving chemotherapy treatments, and in December 2023, Antonicelli had his entire femur, knee and hip joints, and part of his quadriceps muscle surgically removed, per a GoFundMe opened after his death. In August 2024, doctors discovered two new metastases, resulting in radiotherapy at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, where he moved to pursue a degree in human nutrition during his treatment.
Over the summer, Antonicelli’s health “rapidly worsened,” the GoFundMe continued, and in November, he was hospitalized for “uncontrollable” pain, dying in the hospital the following month.

“Ale is gone, but his example remains,” read the GoFundMe. “He showed us what it means to hold on to life, even when it hurts.”
Throughout his treatment, Antonicelli also became a fierce advocate for cancer research initiatives, selling hats with the text “F— Cancer” and “You’re Not Alone” to raise money for the National Cancer Institute in Milan. The GoFundMe page, opened after his death to support the National Cancer Institute, has also amassed over €162,000 (or $188,300) in the last three days.
In the comments of his recent posts, fans of the late creator posted tributes to him after his death.
“May you shine from where you are now, and give strength and courage to your loved ones 🙏❤️” wrote creator Walter Nudo.
